"Is She Dead?" "Pretty Much."

QT Blogathon: Jackie Brown

So I'm a day late, but really, who's counting? This month was a month full of bad hair, toe rings, and blaxploitation. Yes, I'm talking about one of the more underrated Quentin Tarantino films of all time, Jackie Brown. We had a couple Pam Grier loyalists in the house, and so without any further ado...

1. My man, Mr. Darko, applauds the storytelling and gives us a total body count.

2. Rob from French Toast Sunday tests out whether or not Jackie Brown lives up to its hype.

Both reviews are badass, so go give them a look! They also share a similar love for Robert De Niro, which I found amusing. Louis transcends all. Next up, we've got none other than The Bride herself. Kill Bill: Vol 1 (2003). Hard to imagine it was really that long ago! If you've got any reviews/lists/swords for Kill Bill: Vol 1 send them to mhufstader (at) gm.slc.edu before the end of the month and I'll post them up!

  1. Loved, loved Jackie Brown. Pam Grier was 70's badass and Sam L stole the show from ol' Bobby, in my opinion. I mean, I loved DeNiro, but that AK line just kills it for me. Sam wins hands down. I meant to write up a review, but never got around to it. I should do one for Kill Bill as I loved those films for having some of the most cool badass bitches in cinema.

    1. Agreed on all fronts! That AK line will never get old. No one can deliver it like Sam can. You should totally do one for Kill Bill! Badass bride all the way.

  2. Jackie Brown is my favourite Tarantino. I've defended that to the high heavens, but I can't see any of his films, to me, that are better. It's the one that didn't take so much from other films, too, and I think that's why I liked it a lot. Kill Bill, incidentally, is my least favourite of his films and it is the one that has obviously been 'influenced' by so many other films, it's ridiculous. (I do like it, though, don't get me wrong.)

Is it too late to still be included in this QT blogathon? Might just do a sea of reviews of his films if it is, then!

Also, dude, I've tagged you here: http://isaidcanyoudigit.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/liebster-award.html#more and how did I not realise you had another awesome blog? Followed you on taht one, too!

    1. I can understand that. I think half of that has to do with the fact that it's based off a book, so he doesn't have much room for influence. Granted, I've never actually read the book, so I don't know how much Tarantino did or didn't stray from the original material. But the man sure does love his tributes!

And it's never too late! Anyone can sign up any month, so feel free to join the fray! Just send me an email of your review and you'll be good to go!

Sexy tagging! I'll head over now!
