ALERT: New Tarantino Film In The Works!

DJANGO UNCHAINED

You heard me right. There's a new Tarantino in the house. At least, The Quentin Tarantino Archives, who've mostly been a reliable source of Tarantino information, officially confirmed today that Tarantino's new script it up and running. So far, little is known except that it's a "southern" film, which means that most are interpreting it to be a spaghetti western, knowing Tarantino, but it's also entirely possible he could pull another bloodthirsty, smooth-talking cat out of the bag. Now, I never for a second doubted that Quentin Tarantino was lifting pen to paper again and scribbling out a new script, since all this man really seems to do is write. But if you're a cynic like me and you're not going to believe the movie is actually a reality until you have a release date stamped neatly on a trailer, here's a little something to give you some hope:

That's right. The title page of his script. LAST DRAFT. Scribbled in his very own unmistakable chicken scratch handwriting. I'm so excited I'm about to blow like a race car in the red. Here's QT Archives Django Unchained article and official Django Unchained page if you want as many dirty little rumors as you can get. They've also got a facebook page so you can keep yourself in the know. Lastly, if you need a source that's not fucking QT Archives, here you go. IMDB, our never ever trusted friend, has no information in Django Unchained yet, and instead is still claiming Kill Bill: Vol. 3 is "announced", but I'm not holding my breath for that one.

  1. This is going to be awesome, probably even better than Basterds.
I think QT is the best director for a Spaghetti Western.
I'm sure he'll gather up a pretty awesome cast as always!

  2. Is this supposed to be a QT version of SUKIYAKI WESTERN DJANGO? Hmmm...

  3. As you know, I love Sgaghetti Westerns, and I know QT is going to do Corbucci and Leone proud. I've been following this news closely for the last few months, and I found out about this latest development over the weekend. It's good to know others are equally enthused about this. Why wouldn't they be? It's fuckin Tarantino!

  4. @ Jack L--I agree! If anything can be said about QT films, it's that they're films of a film geek. And he doesn't get geekier than when he's talking about spaghetti westerns. So I'm way looking forward to his homage.

@ Rachel--Possibly? There's a couple theories bouncing around, and that's one of them. I think it's more likely a reference to Sergio Corbucci's Django, just knowing what I know about Tarantino, but I could be wrong. Clearly, he was in the Sukiyaki version, he has some attachment to it.

@ Matthew--I agree! Since Tarantino bases so much of his movies off of Leone's work, he might as well go the whole hog and make an all out spaghetti western. And word to that! Everyone should be leaping out of their seats.

  5. My heart is going like a machine gun thinking about a spaghetti western from Q. He rules my fave film list. In my wildest fantasies there is a new Tarantino film for me to sink my teeth into every month, but I know you can't rush genius. Still, it's been entirely too long since Basterds and I'm needing a fix.

  6. I KNOW. He's my favorite director, hands down, so I'm psyched that he's getting his hands dirty in some spaghetti western dirt. I also get mad impatient in between his movies, since there always seems to be huge gaps between his films, but...like you said. You can't rush genius. And I think it's because it takes him so long to get out his films and he puts so much energy into them that they come out so epic. In short, I'm fucking ready.

  9. Oh yah I heard about this movie like a month or two ago, Tarantino always has something in the works and a western sounds perfect for him cuz he haven't seen it before from him (except for Kill Bill 2 which was kinda a spaghetti western).

  10. He does! That man never stops writing. I did catch the stains of spaghetti western in Kill Bill 2, and I'm excited to see him fully pull it off.

  11. I just watched the original DJANGO the other night (NETFLIX INSTANT) and it was incredible! If he's basing it on that, this could be un-fucking-believable! But...fuck Will Smith, seriously.

  12. Niiiiice! I should really get on that, seeing how I'm psyched about this movie and I haven't done my Django research.

Will Smith! I haven't heard that rumor until you mentioned it. That's definitely unexpected, to say the least!
